The tall, upright, somewhat bulbous based growth of light green, shiny leaves with heavy black spines and beautifully branched pink and blue inflorescence makes this plant much sought as a container specimen or landscape plant. Grows well as an epiphyte, forming very large clumps. It belongs in every collection. Perhaps all plants in cultivation in the U. S. are descended from a collection made in
