Gond Tribal Panel From Madhya Pradesh - 19th Century Material - Bamboo In Orissa the Ratha YatraThis antique tribal panel is a Gond door panel from Madhya Pradesh. In the center of the panel is an incised kaleidoscope of geometric patters, perhaps symbolistic of the sun. This panel dates to the 19th century. Around the central panel, various animals are carved including a crudely carved elephant and sheep. The Gond people live in small isolated villages and their huts are made of foraged vegetation.
