Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Bavarian royal crown, around a central depiction of a monoplane flying over a rural landscape, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire cach, maker marked KARL POELLATH, SCHROBENHAUSEN (reflective of the early alternative spelling of the firm
